Evans Backs Cameron’s Calls To Ditch Ridiculous Health And Safety Rules

December 1, 2009

Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, has today backed David Cameron’s call to ditch ridiculous health and safety rules and to protect public service professionals acting in good faith.

Mr Evans said,

“Everybody knows that health and safety legislation can offer protection but is, at times, restrictive and leads to unfair litigation. We must recognise that there are a variety of activities that carry with them a risk of injury.

“People that engage in such activities as sport and adventure training do so of their own volition and it is absolutely right and proper that public service professionals should not be at risk of litigation when acting in good faith.

“The Government must allow people to exercise common sense and decency without legislation and regulation threatening punishment.”
